Biography: Concha Egea Marchitelli Concha Egea Marchitelli holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of the State of New York and two diplomas as a ballet teacher and a Spanish dance teacher from the Superior Conservatory of Dance and Music of Murcia (Spain). She has a Ballet Teaching Certificate from the Royal Academy of Dancing and is also authorized by the Spanish Dance Society to enter students for their annual exams. Mrs. Egea Marchitelli is certified by Kindermusik International to teach their curriculum to young children. Mrs. Marchitelli has created and implemented the drama and dance program at New Hope Academy. Since the program was established, she has produced and directed several musicals, among them “The Wizard of Oz,” “Godspell,” “Charlie Brown,” “Cinderella,” “The Magic in Me,” “Peter & the Wolf,” and “The Magical Land of Oz.” She has also worked with Prince George's Parks & Recreation summer camps “Making a Musical” and “Making a Band.” Mrs. Marchitelli was a professional Spanish dancer. She performed in Spain with Luisillo’s Spanish Dance Company and in “Las Zarzuelas” of Jose Tamayo. She moved to New York where she freelanced as a Spanish dancer, and later she moved to Maryland where she became a member of the Spanish Dance Theater. For twelve years she taught Spanish dance at The Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, DC, under the direction of Oleg Vinegradov. Mrs. Marchitelli adores working with children and passing on her rich experiences to them. “I enjoy watching them flourish as dancers and actors. I rejoice when I successfully pass on to the children the love and appreciation for the performing arts.” Many of her students go on to pursue careers in dance or musical theater. She is proud to say that one of her students performed on Broadway in the musical “The Lion King.” In summary, Concha Egea Marchitelli loves to dance, create, teach children and see them flourish. She has been teaching children since 1990. She is the very proud mother of three boys. |
